David is the Managing Director of Excursions By Rail, bringing a wealth of knowledge and leadership from over three decades in the rail industry. David began his railway career at Durham Station in 1987, laying the foundation for what would become a distinguished and varied journey through the sector.

He went on to hold senior roles with British Rail, GNER, East Coast, and National Express, working across debt recovery and prosecutions, accounts, and retail. His breadth of experience has given him a deep understanding of both the operational and customer sides of the railway.

David also served as General Manager of the Weardale Railway, where he played a key role in developing heritage and community rail services. In addition to his leadership at Excursions By Rail, he is the CEO of Bishop Trains, a successful independent rail ticketing business he has built into a trusted local brand.
